Robert Hooke, best-known as a gifted designer, scientist, inventor, and artist, was also an associate of Christopher Wren, the British architect, and though Wren was generally regarded as the force behind the restoring of London after the Great Fire of 1666, Hooke easily contributed as much, if not more, to the restoration.
